Should homeschooling be illegal? Why or why not?
Why should homeschooling be illegal? why is this even a question? I wasn’t aware that there was some (if any at all) controversy over it.
though…. usually kids that are home schooled are kind of strange…. not always…. but it’s not surprising when that is true….
but I don’t think that’s any reason for someone to say it should be illegal.I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

here in California it is illegal….it has just been ruled that way.
@alterEGGO - yeah i just found that out when I went to go bad mouth the person that asked the question.
and then after I saw that I realized why it was asked.
but they should have noted that it was just rulled illegal in cali.
cause pretty much everyone answering the question that doesnt live in cali, doesn’t know it was just recently made illegal over there. So that’s why everyone thinks this is the dumbest question ever.
Activist Judges got their way in California…..
@Mugetsu - I just think it is great that you are answering such a hot topic.
Being that I am a homeschooling parent in California it affects me but even before it has been a hot topic. There are, as with all things, as many angles to the topic as there are people in this world.
@alterEGGO - I kind of just glanced over the article. So, is it just getting all the heat because there are some parents that are “unqualified” to be teaching their kids?
@Mugetsu - The court ruling was put in place because of a negligent abusive parents/home….the kids weren’t in school nor were they being taught at home….It more has to do with money for schools. Our lovely governor just cut a lot of money to the schools. So this means…if they had more students (the ones homeschooled) then the schools would get more money. Parents, such as myself, even though we aren’t technicaly qualified to teach on a grander scale we care about making sure our kids have the best education. We work in tandem with others that are educators so they get the best of both worlds.
As far as testing goes, homeschooled kids rate higher on the State test scores. And we have found in applying for college homeschooled kids are wanted in the ivy league schools. This is due to the selfmotivation kids at home get…they are motivated to get the work done at a higher rate than public schooled kids (or at least this is true in our area)
