  • What are your thoughts on going vegetarian or vegan?

I’m Vegan, cause eating meat is like only one of the worst things you can ever do….

nothing eff’s up the environment more than the meat industry.

and pretty much the exact same thing can be said about your health. you know, that quarter pounder from burger king might taste but it’s soo effin sick. that burger that’s made up from parts from like a hundred different cows, (many of which had to be dragged off to slaughter since they were too sick to walk on their own) is just dripping with so much fat and colostral it’s disgusting.

and lastly, it’s just plain wrong. If it was dogs and cats that were being hung upside down and getting their throats sliced, would you still be able to eat it? what’s the difference between a cat and a cow or a dog and a pig? yeah, sure the pig is the smartest of the bunch, but that still doesn’t make them any different.
So why pet one and kill the other?

  • Agreed.

Do you have 1,5,10 or any favorite recipes you can share?

If so I would truly appreciate them. Feeding my kid is hard because she is picky so the more recipes I can get the better she can eat. If you would be willing just leave in my comments or msg me.

  • disagree , we like our cousin apes ate a very small amount of meat mainly in the form of EGGS we found inthe trees as we forged for the bulk of our diet  FRUIT and seed and greens .

If i take the repsonsilbilty to become the predator now a days and hunt expecaillly after we human have killed off natures prey /predator balence , i am almost forced to return to nature and do what the Wolf , mountain lion etc used to do , keep herd animals healthy thru natural perdation .

but then i do carry the mentual burden of killing for the flavor of meat , whihc on occasion is mice change from tofu …

ohh recipes for tofu ? simple fry it , boil it in soups , bake ti , SEASON IT … just get used to it .. and it will become almost ADDDICTIVe.

  • well, you know,  i could definitely handle the literal meaning of being a vegan. i just feel like it would inconveinence my friends and family, as well as do some major damage to my swimming career. blah.

    maybe someday! :)

  • @sunalun - eating meat is a much much much bigger “inconvenience” to the animals and the environment than it could ever be to your friends and family..

and how exactly would it damage your swimming career?
is swimming a non-vegan sport or something?
you say that like there’s no such thing as vegan athletes. There’s even vegan professional body builders out there.
also take a look at Mac Danzig. He won the ulitmate fighter 5 and is in the UFC now. Does being a vegan do some major damage to his MMA career? I think i’m going to have to say no… being that he did win the ulitmate fighter and has a record of 19 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw….

  • I’ve never seen the Earthlings movie before..I’ve watched some of it tonight, I’ll have to finish it tomorrow. It looks interesting..

Watching videos like the ones you posted makes me so happy that I decided to go vegetarian..I still don’t know why I didn’t become one sooner. I’ve always loved animals..I guess I’ve always just thought if I don’t think about it, it wouldn’t bother me..but after reading more into things..I just don’t see how anyone can watch what they’re doing to the poor animals and not want to make a change..

    Anyways, good post! :)

  • Right on, man. The environmental damage from the mass producing of herds to keep up with consumption is mind-boggling. And yet we blame the car companies, and oil and paper industries. The “meet your meat” video was one of the principal forces behind my conversion—the day the activist in me was truly born. But sadly, as a Libertarian, I can’t conscientiously deny people the freedom to eat meat or slaughter animals in mass numbers. Because if that right is denied, what rights of mine might be infringed upon? The impetus has got to come from grassroots movements that work to change the minds and wills of the people, not the government.

  • I didn’t realize the featured question today was on going vegan. What an unfortunate coincidence. I always thought we were more of carnivorous creatures, boy was i ignorant. Thanks for the input there. Thoughts of going vegan is always lingering at the back of my head, but i still cannot summon enough commitment to pull me through long period of vegetarianism. Vegetarian food at times, isn’t that readily available and even your innocent candies contain extracts of lard (i cannot remember exactly, but something pork) in them.

Did you grow up a vegan or was it a lifestyle choice? Personally, i don’t eat anything mammal. The pig, dog, cat, cow or whatsoever. But i cannot seem to give up my chicken. I thought about watching a video of the slaughtering of chickens to stop me from ever consuming them. But i … can’t make myself do that. Too much for me to bear. Kudos for the information.

  • why did the tofu cross the road?

    to prove it wasn’t chicken!

  • I’m only a vegetarian, does that mean I’m still bad?

I agree with most of what you said I just get the feeling that alot of vegans look down on vegetarians. I have cats and I really see killing a cow the same as killing a cat, my cat. It’s why I stopped eating meat.

  • I’m omnivorous, but leaning more toward a pesca-vegetarianism, since I mainly eat veggies, fruits, and fish. but there’s nothing wrong with eating meat. man has always been omnivorous–that’s just the way we’re meant to be, biologically, evolutionally.

besides, whatever cruelty may be in the meat industry(but not rampant), it’s never going to stop. they will not stop producing meat just because a few people go vegan/vegetarian. even if half the population went vegan(which won’t happen), meat production would still continue. that’s reality. on conscience, however, I will not eat veal cutlets/anything from veal other than sweetbreads, because of the way they’re treated. I will eat foie gras, though.

I also love animals, by the way, and have 5 cats(all rescued). and I love my calf-skin Christian Louboutin ankle boots(but not as much as I love my cats haha)…

  • The difference between grinding up and making a burger out of human flesh vs cow flesh?…nothing…thats why I am vegan.
